HARUO NIYAMA is a youthful ballet dancer gifted with an exceptional flexibility which allows him soar high up in the air, skillful technique, and a sense of elegance derived from Paris Opera Ballet. Born in Matsumoto City, Nagano, Japan, his classical ballet training started under a tutelage of Tamae and Mihori Tsukada at Shiratori Ballet Academy. The world recognized him especially after he won the first prize at the 42nd Prix de Lausanne in 2014 and the first prize in the senior male division of the Youth America Grand Prix New York Final in the same year at the age of 17. He chose to study at San Francisco Ballet School’s trainee program, supported by the Prix de Lausanne scholarship. In 2016, he joined Washington Ballet Studio Company, followed by his appearance at Paris Opera Ballet on a fixed-term contract from 2017 to 2020, including classical works by Rudolf Nureyev and modern works by Crystal Pite. He joined POB’s tour in Singapore and Shanghai. In 2019, he won the first prize in external competitiv recruitment examination.
